Email Configuration

Your DelphiPlus membership entitles you to a Delphi Mail e-mail account, membername@delphiforums.com. In order to use this feature, you must first create your Delphi Mail account. You do this by going to your My Forums page and clicking on the 'Create Email Account' link under in the 'My Info' menu on the right. This will bring you into the Delphi Mail interface.

If you would like to use your favorite email software, you will need to know your Delphi Mail username and password. Your username is membername@delphiforums.com. Your password is different from your regular Delphi Forums password, and is assigned to you when you set up your Delphi Mail account. You can find your email password by going to your My Forums page and clicking on the Default Controls Password link in the left-hand column. Here are step-by-step configuration instructions for Outlook Express and Thunderbird, two of the most popular email programs.

Outlook Express

Outlook Express is the e-mail client that is built-in to Microsoft's Internet Explorer Web browser. It's also a cinch to configure for Delphi Forums e-mail - simply use these illustrations as an example when setting up your own software:

   

Click on Tools and choose Accounts to get started. You'll then see the screen pictured above. Click on Add and choose Mail to continue along with the rest of the illustrations here.

   

   

   

The smtp.delphiforums.com outgoing mail server may not work for all members. Some members may need to use the SMTP server provided by their Internet Service Provider.

Thunderbird

Launch Thunderbird and select "Account Settings..." from the "Tools" menu. In the Account Settings screen, click on "Add Account" to launch the Account Wizard.
  • The first screen will be the New Account Setup screen. Select the "Email Account" option and click "Next."
  • The second screen will be the Identity screen. Enter your name and your DelphiForums.com email address and click "Next."
  • The third screen will be the Server Information screen. Select the "POP" option and enter "pop.delphiforums.com" in the Incoming Server window and "smtp.delphiforums.com" in the Outgoing Server window* and click "Next." Consult your ISP for the SMTP server name to use.
  • The fourth screen will be the User Names screen. Enter your DelphiForums.com email address in the Incoming User Name and Outgoing User Name* fields and click "Next."
  • The next window is the Account Name window. Enter your DelphiForums.com email address or a different name if you wish then click "next."

When you're done, the final screen of the wizard should look like this:
