How do I add members in a forum?
You can use the 'Invite Friends' feature in your Control Center to add
members to your forum - this also allows you to send a personalized email
to each person, so that they know where to go to find your forum.
How do I change my forum Webtag?
It's not possible to change your forum Webtag. You can elect to create
a new forum with the Webtag of your choosing, but you will not be able
to import your existing Message Board or membership list into it.
What are flags? How do I use them to designate Assistants and Chat
moderators?
Use the 'Set Privileges' option in your forum's Control Center to assign
any of the following privileges to yourself or any member of your forum.
First use the member search tools to find the member or members that you
wish to set a flag for, then click on the resulting member name to view
that member's profile for your forum. You can use this screen to give and
take away flags, as well as access to any access-controlled Folders that
you've created in your Message Board.
"W" is the Wizard for the forum - the host - the boss. Only one Wizard per forum at a time. The member who creates a Delphi Forums forum is, by default, the Wizard.
"A" is an Assistant - the #2 - the vice whatever - 2nd in command. Has all the same privileges as the Wizard except cannot add or take away other A flags, and cannot change forum status from Public to Private and vice versa.
"C" is a Chat moderator - the guiding force behind successful conversations - the silencer of the unruly - the keeper of the key who can close the door to the Chat room.
"E" is for Editor. Editors are able to edit and delete all messages, manage discussions, promote discussions, and set access to folders, but do not have access to the Control Center. (Basic Editors have ONLY those editing functions that are accessible with the "options" mouseover.)
"V" is for Voice. In moderated forums, these people can post messages that appear immediately rather than waiting for an editor to review them.
"P" is for Probation. All posts by members with this flag must be approved in the forum Control Center before they are released to the message board, even when the forum is not on moderation. If you assign a "V" flag, it will trump a "P" flag you assign.
"G" is for Gag. If you wish to keep someone from posting a message in your forum, but don't want to exclude them entirely, use the G flag. Equivalent to giving read-only access in your Message Board.
"L" is for Lockout. Locks a user out of your forum entirely. If you intend to keep them locked out for good, don't delete their record from your Member list - just leave them in lockout state forever.
Can a Delphi Forums "Basic" Member have a "flags?"
Yes, DelphiBasic members can be granted any flag other than "W" or "A" in
Premium Forums and can create and host Starter Forums.
How do I transfer ownership of my Premium Forum to someone else?
In your forum Control Center, look for the 'Forum Membership' menu and
select the 'Forum Ownership' link. There, you will find a form and instructions
on how to transfer ownership of your forum. Before you start, make sure
you have the correct Delphi Forums membername for the person you want
to transfer ownership of your forum to. Be especially cautious if the
person has zero's (0), ones (1), or underscores within their name. Transfer
of ownership is only available to Premium Forums.
Transfer of ownership is only available to Advanced and Plus members. If you have a Basic account, write to memberservice@delphiforums.com for assistance.
How do I delete my forum?
Go to your forum Control Center, click on 'Main Settings', and scroll to
the bottom of the page. There you will see an option to close your forum.
Be careful, though. Once a forum is closed, it cannot be reopened, and
the webtag is not available for use again! Be certain that you really
wish to close your forum, before closing it.
How can I see a list of all forums that I own?
The easiest way to find your own forums is to go to your My
Forums page, and there will be a section at the very top of the page
where the forums you own are grouped together.
I sent an Invite Friends, but the new member gets a 'non-member request'
screen!
By sending an invitation to a specific email address, you've preapproved
that email address for access to your Delphi Forums forum. However, invitations
must be sent to the email address on record with the person's Delphi Forums
membername to work.
Sending an email to JoeCurious123 who signed up with the email of joec@hotmail.com to Joe's Yahoo! address, for example, will not work.
If they already signed up with another address, simply resend your invitation
to the address that was used - then they'll have instant access to your
forum. Alternatively, you may wish to set a Group Code for the forum if
you do not know, or do not wish, to email the prospective members of your
private forum.
