What are Starter Forums?
Starter Forums are free, and can be created and hosted by any Delphi Forums
member--even DelphiBasic (free) members. These forums are for members
who want to give forum hosting a try, but aren't sure they need additional
features and tools. Starter Forums are also great for those who need
only basic message board capabilities, and don't want to pay for any
extras.
What are Premium Forums?
Premium Forums are for hosts who want the power of Delphi's most advanced
community management tools and features. When you upgrade to a DelphiPlus
membership, all of the forums you create are Premium Forums. They include all of the latest
functionality and technology Delphi has to offer, and allow the host
to grant privileges to other members to help moderate the forum.
What are the major differences between Starter Forums and
Premium Forums?
Starter Forums include a message board, a fully-customizable "Start Page,"
and extensive moderation and user management tools. Premium Forums include
everything Starter Forums do, plus chat rooms, polls, extensive usage reports,
advanced tools to customize the forum interface, and much more. Premium
Forum hosts may also grant privileges to other members to help moderate
the forum. For a more complete comparison, see our Premium/Starter
Comparison Chart.
How do I know if my forum has been upgraded from a Starter
Forum?
You will see the "Outline" tab when your forum has been upgraded to Premium
status.
I don't have DelphiPlus, can I upgrade my forum to Premium?
Premium Forums are only available to DelphiPlus members.
Are both Starter and Premium Forums included in forum listings
and search results?
Yes, but Premium Forums will have enhanced listings, including the host's
name and activity levels. Also, Starter Forums must appear in the
index and in search results, while Premium Forums can opt to be unlisted.
What are Ad-Free Pageviews?
DelphiPlus members can opt to make their forum ad-free by purchasing blocks
of Ad-Free Pageviews. When a host purchases Ad-Free Pageviews, guests
and DelphiBasic members won't see ads in their forum.
What about private forums?
Only Premium Forums can be private.
Can Starter Forums run promos across Delphi?
Only Premium Forums can run promos site-wide. Starter Forums can run promos
for local display only.
Can I put pictures and links on a Starter Forum's Start
Page?
Yes, you can use HTML to customize the Start Page of both Starter and Premium
Forums.
Can I transfer ownership to a member who isn't on DelphiPlus?
If a Premium Forum is transferred to a member who is not on DelphiPlus, that forum will
become a Starter Forum.
Sometimes when I click on my Premium Forum's
"Outline" tab, nothing happens. Why?
The problem is usually related to the user having multiple browser windows
open, so the Outline view may be in one of the windows that is already
open. You can also try closing all but one browser window and click again
to see the Outline view window.
Using the Advanced Manage Discussions feature in my Premium
Forum, I marked all the discussions in a folder, then clicked on move.
Nothing happened. Why not?
You need to also mark the folder you wish to move the discussions into.
Click on the radio button on the folder name.
How long are messages and attachments retained in Starter
Forums versus Premium Forums?
In Starter Forums, messages and attachments that are more than a year old
are subject to deletion. In Premium Forums, all messages and attachments
are retained as long as the forum remains a Premium Forum.
Are there any rules on how long Starter Forums can be
inactive?
Starter Forums that have no messages posted for six months are subject
to deletion. Premium Forums are not subject to deletion as long as the
host remains a DelphiPlus member.
Where do I go to customize the colors and fonts of my
Premium Forum?
DelphiPlus members may access these controls by clicking on the 'Colors
and Fonts' link in the 'Forum Properties' Control Center menu.
The tool for customizing Colors and Fonts is confusing.
Where can I go to get more help?
Visit the DelphiPlus
Members' Forum. There, you can look for the information you need or
post a question. Look for the folder that says "Host Controls (Fonts & Colors)."
