  1. I have a problem; what details do you need in order to fix it?
When reporting apparent problems with using the Delphi Forums service, please always include the following details in your trouble report:

We encourage you to post a message in any Message Board on Delphi Forums that pertains to your question. There are resident experts almost everywhere that are happy to share their knowledge and help you to make the most of your Delphi Forums membership.

Some examples of Message Boards on Delphi Forums where you will find expert help and assistance are:

Also keep in mind that Delphi Forums is constantly striving to improve our products. Occasionally, we may need to make a service unavailable for brief periods of time when upgrading our services or correcting a problem.

In an instance like this, you should try again 10 or 15 minutes later to see if the problem was temporary.

  2. None of my friends can find my Forum in the index - how are they going to get into my Forum?
The searchable index of Forums is designed primarily for visitors who know what topic matter interests them, but aren't sure exactly which Forum they're looking for.

If you've told friends, family, or colleagues about your place on Delphi Forums, and want to bring them directly to your Forum, don't send them to the Forum index. Instead, always include your Forum's directl URL (Web address) when informing others about your Forum. Do this by providing the URL:

    http://forums.delphiforums.com/webtag/start

Where 'webtag' should be replaced with your Forum's own unique Webtag, which you chose when you first created your Forum.

  3. I keep getting bounced back to the login screen whenever I click on something in my Message Board! Why?
You may be using a Web browser that does not handle "cookies" properly, or you might have some other content-control software enabled that affects the way cookies work in your browser.

If you are using Internet Explorer:

    1. Click View and choose Internet Options.

    2. Click the Content tab. Under Content Advisor, is there a button that says "Disable"? If so, click it to disable the Content Advisor software. You'll need to know the supervisor password that was chosen when this was first turned on. Restart your browser and try logging into Delphi Forums.

If you are using some other browser, or if this does not fix the problem, be sure that you are not also running any 3rd-party utilities like Webcelerator, that are designed to do fancy things with your browser cache or cookies, or suppress banner advertisements on Web sites. Any such software will cause login problems on Delphi Forums.

  4. Don't rely on bookmarks!
Don't rely on bookmarks for saving the locations of Delphi Forums Message Boards, Chat rooms, or Control Centers! Instead, always make My Forums your 'Ground Zero' for finding all your favorite points within Delphi Forums.

Sometimes a change that we make will necessitate a change of URL (Web address), causing bookmarks to fall out of synch. My Forums will always send you to the right place!

  5. Can I include the group access code for my private Forum in the URL for my Message Board?

    Yes. Give this a try:

    http://forums.delphiforums.com/WEBTAG/messages/?group_code=GAC

In practice, replace WEBTAG with your Forum's Webtag, and GAC with your Forum's Group Access Code. You can view and modify your Group Access Code from within your Forum Control Center.

  6. I keep getting GPF errors!
GPFs (General Protection Faults) are caused by two programs or routines trying to use the same memory space. When one wins, the other crashes!

There may actually be a shortage of memory in the system. But just as likely, there is enough memory in the system, but bugs in the program or operating system inhibit finding the available memory space with equally disastrous results.
